i havent blogged for ages and life somewhat feels weird. anyway, i seriously need to talk about the visual arts trip to kuala lumpur. the truth is, i enjoyed myself terribly and i wished the trip was one week or something, but it would become a shopping trip or something..
yeah, my room mate was yi hsin, and the fact is she isnt that bad as i thought. i ripped the zip off my bag the moment we were about to depart school because i was trying very desperately to squeeze two thick strorybooks into my bag and duh, i used quite a lot of strength. secondly, i tore my pants in the toilet cos i was rushing off to the coach in yong peng. guess what? i threw the pants away and it was like when we were about to leave when i realised that the key to the lock on my luggage was still in the toilet. dreads man.. the toilet was like deprived of its cleaning probably for years and because it is the first day, i cant afford to destroy my luggage by breaking the lock or cutting it even though i am somewhat temted to wrench off the lock.
when we reached kuala lumpur, i broke this candle in central market and i had to pay for it. not much though, instead of 4 for 10 ringgit, it became 3. so much so for destroying much stuffs in the first day. ah well.. took some nice photos from the petronas towers and the kings palace. yupp.

second morning went down rather early for breakfast. erm the breakfast exactly isnt very nice, because there isnt a wide variety available and those that are served are somewhat lacking in something. but anw, since it is supposedly free, I shall simply shut up. after eating, yi hsin and I were like ½ hour earlier then we decided to go back to our room to watch tv. the lifts were rather busy and reminded me of those in australia. it takes you more than 15 mins to get into the lift. besides that, we were staying on the 18th floor, a bit impossible to climb stairs right?
hence, we were rather lucky to get into a half filled lift. at the 11th floor, where the swimming pool was situated, mrs goh and ms christine tan walked into our lift barefooted in swimsuits. goodness. and from the 11th floor all the way up, the lift had to stop at every floor and apparently mrs goh wasn’t too happy about the lift door opening because they were just after the lift doors. ah well, so much so for a surprising morning.
shant elaborate on museums because I cant remember their names and my travel booklet is with mrs goh. went times square for shopping in the afternoon but it was rather sian cos I had nothing to buy and my refusal to spend money except on milk and I spent most of the time in borders.
here comes the best part of the trip- the firefly cruise! we went to kuala selangor and dinner was served by the selangor river. then we headed to bukit belimbing where we would board the boat to watch these fireflies. millions of fireflies with a dazzling display of lights flickering in synchrony resembled twinkling electric lights on a christmas tree. male fireflies flash three times per second, while the female-emitting a glow of lesser intensity flash only once in three seconds. basically the fireflies suck the sap of the berembang trees and they are found along the selangor river. it was an astounding sight but I had to pay the price of wearing board shorts and not spraying insect repellent. dozens of mosquito bites. ah well.
we reached the hotel pretty late cos from kuala lumpur to kuala selangor is about one and a half hour drive. most of the people have slept except me, trying to read a storybook using a light stick because the driver went to off all the lights. ARGH. and I heard mr teo snore.
third morning, I survived on dairy products like fried egg and milk with honey stars and yoghurt for breakfast. nice breakfast though. we went to the swimming pool to see if there were any teachers swimming and we saw mr teo swimming alone. like erm. and he was surprised to see yi hsin and I there. shortly after, we took the same lift and he told someone that he forgot he forgot to bring his bath towel down.went to the national art gallery and look at the art works done by local people.. I think I like joseph tan’s works the best. rather impresionistic though. but he died. the art galley is super nice lar, its like rather grand cos it has slopes instead of stairs. so there is this spiral slope all the way up. but a bit tiring to climb lar..
visited the observation deck of the kuala lumpur tower. nice view lehz. went for lunch at this restaurant minmax. the food served at most of the restaurants are quite nice but the last dish is always watermelon.. the entire afternoon was at megamall, the biggest shopping centre in kuala lumpur. elizabeth and I were walking around because mr teo had to stay with some latecomers for one hour because they were late when we were about to depart times square. then elizabeth was super kc about reminding mr teo about bowling with us. she asked him earlier on. yeah. we ran from north court to south court to look for him. in the end, ms tan, mrs goh and mr teo bowled with me and elizbeth. I was not the worst for two rounds though. luckily.
went kenny rogers for dinner with elizabeth and yi hsin. I swear I laughed till my stomach muscles tore. when the waitress took our order for the muffins, she asked if we wanted banana, vanilla or chocolate and I heard as ‘banina’ or ‘chipmonk’ and we died of laughter lar. seriously the waitress looked rather amused by my response. then there were three side dishes for the ¼ set meal. I thought I was the only one ordering macaroni and cheese. so there was this big plate of macaroni and cheese which I thought was mine and I asked the waitress, if one side dish so big, then how to finish three side dishes?’ then elizabeth said it was hers and the waitress laughed again. I think we made a hell lot of noise in that place. ah well. then we decided to say goodbye to this nice waitress before we left. she was rather busy so we signalled to this waiter to call her for us. then when the waitress stepped out of kenny rogers, we said ‘bye bye’ and ‘thank you’ in all the languages like english, chinese, malay, japanese etc and we roared we laughter cos I ended by saying ‘thanks for making our meal at kenny rogers such a memorable one’. erm.
then elizabeth and I went to some dome place cos I wanted to buy coffee. then I ordered choco cino without knowing what it is. when the person was pouring steaming vanilla into the cup, I asked the stupidest question, is choco cino hot or cold? like duh.. then the man went to stir the coffee cos I didn’t know to stir or not to stir. he tossed the metal spoon into the basin with a lud sound and I told him ‘I nearly got heart attack but luckily heart strong or else I kena heart atack’. yeah, then we laughed like nuts..I tried to force a straw into the lid which had a small opening for you to drink from. and seriously, I think I kind of laughed till my stomach was about to burst..
took the coach back and mr teo announced that our lights out time is at 12 midnight since it was our last night. yupp, but I made too much noise and everyone’s time was cut to 1150pm. then he told me if I continued to make some more noise, my room lights out time will be cut since it wasn’t fair to the rest. we went to our room and wrote poems for you know.. then the security guards came up and complained about our school students being very noisy. the sec 2s having pillow fight leh. ms tan and mrs goh were telling us to get back to sleep at 1130pm. ah well, I ended up drinking millk and thinking of stuffs. fell asleep at 1am.
last morning in kuala lumpur. so sad. the very first museum we went to, I was sort of reprimanded by mr teo cos I hit the gong. I didn’t even see the ‘please do not touch’ sign lor. yeah, the museum of asian arts. more like the museum for ancient aunts.. all the potteries and stuffs. islamic art also have.. and I had a hard time trying to shut up and not touch anything.
went malacca for lunch. it was peranakan food. the place changed a hell lot. the last time I went was in pri6 and there were still bullock carts. its like 4 whole years.. then the bullock carts have all shifted to ayer keroh and I managed to see a few well-groomed ones when we passed ayer keroh.. oh my goodness, I really missed going to malaysia.. hotel equiltorial still stands grand and makota parade doesn’t seem to have any difference.. but I still like the mines resort and the palace of the golden horses that I went to in kuala lumpur. that was shiok.
went straight back to school and I saw some band people cos band camp just ended. I saw mr davis too! I heard from francesca that mr davis liked the string bass soli in the first movement! yay, that was an improvement compared to the previous band camp when we sounded quite terrible. singtel rocks man.. I was chanting ‘s’ is for singtel after mr teo said sth about me shouldn’t be saying too many ‘s’ words(shit in this case).
I short, I enjoyed myself terribly despite being reprimanded. its just part and parcel of being itchy fingered in museums.
